Resources and referral information for probation officers, nurses, social workers, healthcare providers, and community helpers across Thunder Bay and Ontario.

You work with people who are struggling. You see it up close, sometimes before anyone else does. And when you recognize that someone needs more support than you can offer in your role, knowing exactly where to send them matters.
This page is for you.
BelMind Therapeia works alongside community helpers, justice workers, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to make the referral process as simple and as human as possible. If you have someone in mind right now, you don’t need to read the whole page.
Who We Work With
BelMind Therapeia offers virtual therapy across Ontario and in person counselling in Thunder Bay. Services are available to individuals navigating:
- Trauma and PTSD, including complex and developmental trauma
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression and mood concerns
- Grief and loss
- Life transitions and adjustment
- Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
- Stress related to work, identity, culture, and belonging
- This is not an exhaustive list. We also support individuals who may not identify with a specific concern but are seeking a space to reflect, process experiences, and gain clarity in a supportive and non judgmental environment.
Our Approach

Science & Silence
Therapy at BelMind Therapeia is built on two things working together : science and silence!
The science: evidence-based approaches that research has shown to work.
The silence: the space we make for your client’s own story, their values, what they know about themselves, and what healing means to them specifically. Neither is enough without the other.
Depending on the client’s needs and goals, therapy may draw from:
EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, which helps process experiences that feel stuck in the body and the mind. Cognitive Processing Therapy, which gently examines the beliefs that formed around painful experiences. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which works with the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which builds skills for managing intense emotions and navigating relationships. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which helps people move toward what matters to them even in the presence of pain. Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, which works with attachment patterns and emotional experience at a deeper relational level.
Sessions may also be informed by somatic awareness and mindfulness-based principles, supporting clients in developing a more grounded, present relationship with their own body and inner experience. These approaches are integrated thoughtfully and collaboratively, always in service of what feels right and safe for the individual client.
We meet clients where they are. No prior therapy experience is required, and no one needs to be in crisis to deserve support.
How to Make a Referral
The referral process is straightforward. You can submit a referral using the form below, fax it directly to our office, or reach out by email or phone first if you’d like to talk through a client’s situation before referring.
When completing the form, it helps to include:
A brief description of what the client is presenting with. Any relevant safety considerations we should be aware of. Whether the client is aware of and consenting to the referral. Their preferred contact method and best times to reach them. Their NIHB status if applicable.
You don’t need all of this information to get started. If you’re unsure about anything, just reach out and we’ll figure it out together.
Once a referral is received, we aim to make contact with the client within two to three business days.

Client Handouts
Printable materials you can hand directly to the people you work with, in a waiting room, at the end of a session, during an intake, or whenever the moment feels right. Each handout is written in plain language, designed to reduce stigma, and introduces therapy gently for people who may be hesitant, uncertain, or hearing about it for the first time. Topics include trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and more. Every handout includes a QR code your client can scan to book an initial consultation directly with BelMind Therapeia, no extra steps, no phone calls required on your end.

When you refer someone to BelMind Therapeia, you are trusting us with a person who matters. That trust means something here. Every referral is received with the same care and intention that you brought to recognizing that this person needed support in the first place. The people you send our way are not files or cases. They are human beings carrying something real, and from the very first point of contact, they will be met with that understanding. We are grateful for the work you do, and for the bridge you build between the people who need support and the help that is waiting for them.
