Addictions
The thing that helps,
until it doesn’t.
It started as something that helped, quieted the noise, took the
edge off, made the day easier to get through. Somewhere along the
way it stopped being a choice and started being something you do
just to feel normal.
Does this sound familiar?
You tell yourself this is the last time, and then it isn’t.
You feel like two different people, the one who wants to stop and the one who reaches for it anyway.
People close to you have said something, and you brushed it off even though part of you agreed.
You hide it, minimize it, or plan your day around it without meaning to.
You feel calm in the moment, and then heavier with guilt right after.
You’ve tried to cut back or quit before, and it didn’t stick.
None of this makes you weak, or means you don’t care enough to stop.
It means something took hold that was never meant to run your life, and that grip can be loosened with the right support.
Talk to someone who won’t judge you, just help you find your way back to yourself.
We work with CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, EMDR, EMDR 2.0, and somatic approaches.
