OCD
The thought that
won’t let go.
You already know the thought doesn’t make sense, and you check
anyway, just to be sure. It’s not that you want to do it again, it’s
that the not doing it feels unbearable.
Does this sound familiar?
You replay the same worry over and over, even after you’ve reassured yourself.
You check things (locks, texts, whether you said the wrong thing) more than you’d like to admit.
Certain numbers, orders, or routines feel like they have to be exactly right, or something bad will happen.
You avoid situations just to sidestep the thoughts they bring up.
Your mind gets stuck on what if, long after everyone else has moved on.
You feel like you have to do something in your head to cancel out a thought, even if it makes no logical sense.
This doesn’t mean you’re careless, or overreacting.
It means your mind is stuck trying to protect you from something, and stuck loops can be worked with.
Talk to someone who understands how these loops work, and how to loosen them.
We work with ERP, CBT, EMDR 2.0, ACT, and somatic methods.
